This treatment has been practiced for thousands of years in Thailand and is based upon a holistic, preventative approach to health and well-being.
Its philosophy is centred on the energy lines that run through our bodies, with the belief being that if we have blockages or imbalances, energy cannot flow freely. And if energy cannot flow freely, then our physical, mental and emotional processes cannot work at their best.
Without energy flowing efficiently, to meet the demands of our busy lives, we are susceptible to pain and disease. Therefore, this philosophy makes utter sense in the hectic, modern world we live in.
The massage itself involves the Therapist applying pressure and deep massage strokes along the various energy lines of the feet and lower legs and working on the reflex points of the feet.
By working in this way, the blood and lymph circulation is stimulated; major internal organs are worked through the reflex points; respiratory function is improved through the relaxing effect of the treatment and the nervous system is boosted through contact with nerve endings, just below the skin’s surface.
One of the main benefits of Thai Foot Massage, as I have experienced it, is the alleviation of stress. This in itself has to be good for our overall health and well being.
I have yet to hear anyone say they didn’t enjoy experiencing the Thai Foot magic! So why not try it for yourself and see.
